Regardless of how projects are organized, transparency is one of THE success factors!
Knowing which tasks my teammates are working on and what they are struggling with not only promotes team cohesion but also enables short feedback cycles within the team.
The testing activities are of course visualized on every physical task board and are an important part of the entire project.
It is all the more surprising that when using electronic tools (test management tools), test tasks no longer find their way (or only indirectly) to the daily standup or status meeting.
This greatly reduces transparency and often has a negative impact on teamwork.
There is potential for improvement here, which is why we as an Atlassian Solution Partner are constantly looking for the best solutions to better integrate all testing skills within the team and to unite all tasks and assets with JIRA.
Out of the box, JIRA does not fully support test management. Atlassian's vast Marketplace, with its numerous add-ons, offers optimal support and various extension options.
But which is the right test management add-on?
We scoured the entire marketplace, spoke with vendors at the Atlassian Summit, and closely examined a selection of add-ons. This led, among other things, to our partnership with XPand-IT, the developer of the Xray test management add-on.
Xray elegantly and simply increases transparency and flexibility in test management with JIRA.
Desired test objects can be created, managed, grouped, and executed with ease.
Furthermore, Xray brings the "folder structure" to JIRA, making test cases even easier and more intuitive to manage.
Our experience with JIRA and Xray has shown us that the interplay between JIRA and its add-ons is often crucial. Therefore, we recommend broadening your perspective and considering various other JIRA add-ons during an evaluation.
