From visions of the future to the foresight trail
This day combined the best of both worlds: strategic thinking and fresh forest air, flipcharts and bike tires. That's exactly what our Talent & New Joiner Day was this year, which we were able to spend together with Thömus in Wädenswil.
The workshop: Future visions using the Future-Backwards method
The morning was dedicated to the future. At Thömus Bike World, we met for a workshop focused on the future of Infometis. One of the questions we explored was: What headlines do we want to read about Infometis in 2030? We also employed the Future-Backwards method, which involves not starting with the status quo, but first developing a concrete vision of the future and then working backward from there to find the path to get there. The result was a blend of bold ideas and very specific next steps that will move us forward as a team.
BBQ and exchange with the Thömus Youngstars
After a lot of mental work, hunger was just what we needed. The Thömus Youngstars had organized a BBQ lunch for us, a culinary highlight in itself, but above all a wonderful opportunity to connect over good food. Although world champions were among them, they are all very down-to-earth. Even before getting on their bikes, an exciting exchange developed between the bikers and our consultants – two worlds that at first glance seem to have little in common, but which surprisingly found many points of contact, be it in terms of focus, team spirit, or how to deal with challenges.
The bike tour with the bike pros over roots and trails
And then the tour itself. Monique Halter, a new member of the Thömus Elite Team, was also there and immediately showed what she's capable of on her very first tour. The Youngstars bike pros not only accompanied us as hosts, but also directly on the trails through the forests around Wädenswil. Despite their skill and experience, they were wonderfully down-to-earth, uncomplicated, and always ready with a tip.
Over roots, through narrow passages, at times quite wild – anyone who thought the afternoon would be leisurely was in for a surprise. There was also plenty to discover in terms of technical skill. We were particularly impressed by how easily the saddle position could be adjusted to the situation while riding: down for the trails, up for the flat sections.
Some in our group deliberately chose a classic bicycle over an e-bike and didn't regret it one bit. In some cases, they were even faster than the e-bikes. To be honest, though, they did work up a bit more of a sweat on the hills. 😉
Where there's a will, there's a trail
Days like this show what makes the Infometis team special: We think big and long-term, but we also enjoy simply being outdoors in nature, traveling with something that connects us.
