On Friday, November 22nd, the event took place once again. Over coffee and croissants, the diverse participants had the opportunity to get to know each other and shorten the wait for the engaging presentation by Dominic Bächlin and Fabio Ermanni. The well-chosen title, "LESS SAFE," promised an exciting presentation, and the attendees from ZKB, Mobiliar, the Canton of Zurich, Helsana, and Bank Vontobel were not disappointed.
The two agile coaches from AXA took us on a journey that began in 2013. At that time, more and more teams were experimenting with new agile methods like Scrum and Kanban. However, these were initially scattered, uncoordinated efforts. Three years later, AXA attempted to launch an agile transformation program, but this failed. Nevertheless, six teams joined forces to try to implement collaborative planning based on the SAFe agenda. The joint development of a backlog for the next ten weeks, which already took the most important dependencies into account, quickly yielded initial successes, and more and more teams joined in.
It quickly became clear that the path from "Learning Agile" to "Doing Agile" and "Being Agile" not only concerns processes and tools, but above all the organization and its culture.
The question of the framework was particularly interesting. Dominic and Fabio vividly demonstrated how AXA developed its own framework instead of using an existing one. The focus was clearly on Inspect & Adapt, an evolutionary approach that supports transformation from within. This allows the framework to continuously grow and adapt to new challenges. Finally, we were presented with the current version of AXA's Solution Delivery Framework and the AXA Agile Maturity Model.
The open discussion following the presentation demonstrated the group's great interest, and the two coaches were questioned intensively for another 45 minutes.
An exciting and interesting morning that was more than just an inspiration for many listeners.
