Bernd Staiger, our CFO, discusses Infometis' investment strategy in an interview. We adhere to our guiding principle when it comes to investments: "We act responsibly towards society and the environment."
Where does Infometis invest?
We primarily invest in our employees. The main focus of this investment is on contributions to occupational pension schemes and enabling continuous professional development.
As an IT company, we don't make huge investments in buildings, production facilities, or a vehicle fleet. Nevertheless, we take care to keep our footprint in terms of material resources as small as possible.
What does "sustainable investment in our employees" mean?
In addition to our compensation system, which will be covered in a separate article, there are two other aspects to consider:
Thinking about tomorrow today is crucial when it comes to retirement planning . For many, this topic seems distant and isn't a relevant factor when choosing a job. But what you neglect during 30 years of working life can hardly be made up for before retirement. At Infometis, we cover 80% of pension fund contributions, helping our employees have a financial cushion at the end of their careers.
The capital accumulated in the pension fund should be invested according to sustainable principles. With our current pension fund, VITA (Zurich Insurance), we have no direct influence on how sustainably our money is invested. There is still room for improvement here. Generally, the Zurich Group is making a strong effort to present itself as a sustainable and responsible company .
Another aspect is the investment in their own training. All employees receive the same generous annual contribution to keep their knowledge up to date or to further their education and acquire additional qualifications.
How can sustainability be increased in the use of resources?
We prioritize durability. A good example is our Giroflex office chairs at our Laurenzgasse location. We purchased them in the early 2000s after extensive testing at a specialist shop in Zurich. While they may no longer look brand new, the upholstery and mechanisms are still in excellent condition.
We operate our office on Laurenzgasse similarly to a co-working space. The workstations, equipped with a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, can be booked online. We started modestly with 5 workstations and have since increased to 8. For peak periods or larger meetings, we use co-working spaces such as the Impact Hub.
We believe in personal responsibility when it comes to our computers and smartphones . All employees receive an annual credit towards their work equipment budget. This encourages everyone to take care of their personal device and carefully consider how they want to use their budget.
