Every year we donate a portion of our profits to charity – and have been doing so for many years.
Every Infomet employee gives up a portion of their variable salary to make the world a little bit better.
We nominate non-profit organizations, among which the amount is then divided equally. We usually have a personal connection to these organizations and are therefore convinced that we are making a meaningful difference.
Organizations we supported in 2022
The plight of the people who are stranded or fleeing in Ukraine has moved us to support the aid provided by the following organizations:
A former player (FCV women, now doing interval training for the marathon), who had the opportunity to train our Infomet, is on the board of the ALD charity. She also supports her friend, who suffers from this disease and whom our Infomet also knows personally.
As it is a small Swiss organization, they are naturally very grateful for any support. Our Infomet team also regularly participates as volunteers at various charity events.
The word aphasia comes from Greek. It means "without speech" and is translated as "loss of speech." Aphasias are acquired language disorders that occur after damage to the language-dominant hemisphere of the brain.
The Brunau Foundation is a local Zurich-based aid organization. It supports people with disabilities so they can be employed. A long-time school friend of one of our Infometen colleagues works there as a caregiver. This gives him regular insight into the work and feedback on how much our donation is appreciated. A group of interested Infometen colleagues also visited the foundation and had the opportunity to learn more about the organization.
Edventure Nepal is dedicated to providing a home and education for orphans in Pokhara, Nepal. It's a small orphanage currently housing 11 children. Our contact person had the opportunity to meet the founder, Amrit Tiwari, during his vacation in Nepal in 2013 and also supported the children with English and math lessons. His last visit was in 2017. The children are doing very well, and he regularly receives their school reports. Our contact person and his wife have been donating a sum of money every month for years.
The association was co-founded by a friend of an Infomet employee. Its primary purpose is to support families and children/young people in their development and mental health. A particular focus is placed on professional preventive, therapeutic, and (socio-)educational projects and/or measures to support and promote the social integration of families with young children, families and children in crisis or exceptional situations, and those who have experienced migration or trauma. Many of the individuals affected have come to Switzerland as refugees.
The wife of one of our Infomets has known Elke Zwicker and her husband for many years. They emigrated to Cape Town to dedicate themselves fully to building supervised daycare centers in the slums through their organization, Little Lambs. A few years ago, the Infomet's wife visited them in Cape Town with her mother for a friend's wedding. Because of this close relationship and the significant impact a donation can have, the Infomet is pleased that we are supporting this organization.
Manu comes from the Engadine region of Switzerland and lives with her family in the Brazilian favelas, volunteering to support families in need. Through her project, "Manu-Helping Favela Rocinha," Manu buys essential food supplies, arranges for smugglers, and distributes them to people in need in two of Rio de Janeiro's poorest favelas. An Infomet knows Manu's grandmother personally and is delighted to support this selfless aid project.
An Infomet and his wife are delighted to be donating to the Friedau children's home this year. The year of the pandemic has been difficult for the home, and they are very grateful for every donation. The Friedau Foundation is a facility for people with special needs and their families.
The non-profit foundation aims to promote the vocational and social integration of young people with learning disabilities. To this end, the Stift Höfli institution offers, for the first time, vocational training in 10 different professions – supported by the disability insurance. The training companies are primarily located in Oberstammheim and the neighboring town of Nussbaumen, Thurgau. The on-site residential program comprises five progressive living levels. The goal is the social integration and maximum autonomy of these young people. From what I can see in Stammheim, they are doing a good job and contributing to reducing the number of people who need to rely on social welfare or disability insurance benefits, enabling them to lead more independent lives.
One of our informants supported the Theodora Foundation with the "RunForSmiles" charity run last year. A personal connection developed through this event. The foundation is committed to bringing laughter, joy, and precious moments of respite to children in hospitals and institutions for children with disabilities.
An Infomet has personally supported the Turtle Foundation for over 15 years and is now delighted to be able to donate a little more through Infometis. The Turtle Foundation is dedicated to the protection of sea turtles in Indonesia and Boa Vista. In doing so, the Turtle Foundation not only helps the turtles but also numerous disadvantaged families in these areas.
Computer School
City of God/Holy Bakhita NGO
This project is a passion project of Georg Kerkloh, whom an Infometin has known personally for years. He has been working as a development aid worker in Ghana for three years and, on a private basis, established a computer school in the "City of God" slum in Accra for the NGO "Holy Bakhita." Now he wants to make the school less dependent on him personally and expand its offerings. For example, they plan to hire a local teacher full-time. Our Infometin knows that the donation is in good hands with Georg and will directly benefit the project.
