In short: Gartner published its Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms in July 2026, evaluating 19 vendors. The Leaders quadrant includes Dynatrace, Datadog, Grafana Labs, Elastic, New Relic, Coralogix, Chronosphere, and IBM. Dynatrace demonstrates one of the strongest combinations of execution capability and vision, primarily due to its combination of deterministic analytics and an agentic AI layer ("Dynatrace Intelligence"). Gartner projects market growth to $14.3 billion by 2028.
Observability has evolved from mere infrastructure monitoring to a strategic capability that directly supports digital resilience, developer productivity, and the operation of AI systems.
Dynatrace is once again among the providers with the strongest combination of execution capabilities and vision. Dynatrace combines deterministic analysis methods with an agentic AI layer, thus positioning itself specifically against providers that apply generative AI directly to raw telemetry.

The report describes four developments that are crucial for companies when choosing tools and partners:
The gap between aspiration and reality in agent-based AI is clearly evident: Many platforms advertise autonomous investigation agents for root cause analysis across multiple systems, but consistent and reliable results remain the exception for most companies.
Observability pipelines are becoming a strategic layer. Because the cost of telemetry ingestion remains the biggest sticking point, companies are increasingly relying on pipelines that filter, mask, and forward data before it flows into expensive analytics backends.
OpenTelemetry has turned instrumentation into a commodity. This lowers the barrier to switching platforms, forcing providers to differentiate themselves more strongly through analytics and user experience.
LLM and AI workload observability is evolving into a new core requirement: token consumption, model latency, and metrics such as hallucination rates are now mandatory for companies with productive AI applications.
Gartner predicts that the observability market will grow to $14.3 billion by 2028. The driving force is less the adoption of new AI capabilities than the sheer volume of telemetry data that needs to be managed.
Gartner highlights three main points regarding Dynatrace:
The Smartscape topology and the underlying AI engine "Dynatrace Intelligence" are considered a benchmark for high-precision, real-time dependency mapping. This deterministic approach automates root cause isolation and reduces manual analysis effort.
The new AI layer allows for the definition of goals that the system then implements independently within predefined guidelines. This is a step towards automated observability, where AI actions remain bound to specific organizational requirements and security boundaries.
In the area of compliance (DORA, GDPR) and with offerings for sovereign clouds and on-premises, Dynatrace is strongly positioned for regulated industries such as banking and public administration.
The Leaders quadrant in 2026 is more diverse than in previous years. Datadog continues to lead in portfolio breadth with over 20 integrated products and, with its SRE agent "Bits AI," offers one of the most advanced approaches to automated incident analysis on the market. Grafana Labs scores points with its open-source origins and a product-driven sales model that facilitates entry for Kubernetes-focused teams. Elastic brings observability, security, and search together on a single platform, addressing a compelling TCO argument for existing Elastic customers. New Relic, Coralogix, Chronosphere , and IBM round out the field, each with its own focus, ranging from cost control for high-volume metrics to AI-powered analysis with an explanatory component.
Choosing the right platform is only part of the task. Crucially, it's about how an observability solution is integrated into existing testing, release, and operational processes, how telemetry costs are kept under control, and how much of the promised AI automation delivers reliable results in the organization's own operations.
This is precisely where Infometis positions itself: as a Swiss specialist for quality engineering with managed services in the observability context. We take on tasks for companies that often get neglected in day-to-day operations because they lack the internal capacity or specialization
In doing so, we work closely with the market leaders from the Gartner Magic Quadrant, whether Dynatrace, Datadog or another leader platform: Infometis brings the quality engineering perspective that providers of this size do not cover themselves.

Dynatrace also acquired Arize in August. Infometis had identified this gem as an exciting partner on their tool radar and is pleased that this is now officially the case.
