IREB® CPRE Requirements Eliciation Practitioner (Level 2)

Determine requirements systematically and in a targeted manner

In this training you will develop sound knowledge and practical skills to systematically plan requirements elicitation, deal professionally with stakeholders, identify and resolve requirement conflicts, and determine and effectively use appropriate elicitation techniques.

A special focus is placed on the selection of suitable data collection techniques and their application.

The training is based on the official curriculum of the International Requirements Engineering Board and combines theory with practical exercises.

Program & Content

Day 1 – Planning & Stakeholders

• Structured planning and execution of requirements elicitation
• Influencing factors and process patterns
• Introduction to Requirements Sources
• Identification and classification of stakeholders
• Working with requirement sources (stakeholders, documents, systems)
• Structured documentation and management
• Survey techniques (interviews, questionnaires)

Day 2 – Investigation Techniques and Conflict Resolution

• Other data collection techniques (e.g., observation techniques, collaborative techniques)
• Creative and analytical techniques (e.g. prototyping, thinking tools)
• Selection of suitable methods depending on the project situation
• Identification, analysis and resolution of requirement conflicts
• Sustainable documentation of conflict resolutions

Day 3 – Skills of a RE

• Characteristics of a good requirements engineer.
• Communication models and soft skills in requirements engineering
• Reflection and further development of one's own skills
• Repetition, clarifying open questions
• Trial test under real conditions
• Certification exam

The IREB® certification exam (CPRE) normally takes place at the end of the third day of the course. Upon request, the certification exam can also be taken online at a mutually agreed-upon time.

Certification & Requirements

The IREB® CPRE Advanced Level – Requirements Elicitation (Practitioner, Level 2) exam is a multiple-choice test. A CPRE Foundation Level certificate (or equivalent) is required.
